Terms of use

These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and Dağhan M. ("we", "us") about using convert-box. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. What convert-box is

convert-box is a free tool, paid for by advertising, that converts files from one format to another. The conversion happens inside your own web browser. We don't receive, store or look at your files (see the privacy policy). We may change, pause or stop any part of the service at any time, without notice.

2. Your files are your responsibility

You may only convert files that you own or have permission to use. You agree not to use convert-box to:

Because files never reach us, we can't check, moderate or remove them, and we are not responsible for what you convert or what you do with the results.

3. No guarantees

convert-box is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

File conversion is not perfect. Formatting, fonts, images, layout, metadata or quality can be lost or changed. Always keep your original files, and check converted files before relying on them, especially legal, medical, financial or other important documents.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, files, profits or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, convert-box. Since the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to the smallest amount allowed by the law that applies to you.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory local law.

5. Ads and third-party links

The site may show ads and links to other websites. We don't control and aren't responsible for them, their content or their products. Ads are not endorsements.

6. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of files you converted or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, as far as the law allows.

7. Open-source software

convert-box is built with open-source libraries and fonts, each used under its own license. Those licenses apply to their components and take priority over these terms where they conflict. See open-source licenses.

8. Trademarks

"convert-box" and its logo belong to us. Names of file formats and products, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Microsoft Corporation), Adobe Acrobat (Adobe Inc.) and Apple Numbers (Apple Inc.), belong to their owners. We use them only to describe which files the tool can open or create. convert-box is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using convert-box after a change, the new terms apply.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep any protection the mandatory law of your home country gives you.

11. Everything else

If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to do so later.
